Welcome to Georgia's Journey

Georgia Lily Lucas was born at home on October 6th, 2008 4:15am, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was diagnosed with SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) on April 1, 2009.

On April 3rd Georgia was taken home, to be near her sisters and the rest of her family and friends. Nearly three weeks later, on April 21, 2009, she died peacefully -- in the loving arms of her mother and in the same room in which she was born.

Angels Among Us

To all of you attending the service on Monday, one of the songs that will be sung is Angels Among Us. We will be handing out the lyrics in the hopes that everyone will at least join in for the chorus. If you want to familiarize yourself with the song it's pretty easy to find on Youtube. The one video even has the words up on the screen. Come on, the more of you singing means the more voices to drown my dreadful voice!! Think about it! : ) Georgie just loved singing!

Good night, God Bless,

Kristen

  2. Mike and Kristen, I won't be able to make the service tomorrow but want you both to know that I've been thinking a lot about your family over the last while and can't begin to tell you how bad I've felt about Georgia's sickness and passing.

  3. Mike and Kristen. I just want you to know that we`ll be thinking of you to-morrow as you lay your sweet angel to rest. Our hearts are heavy because we don`t know what to do to ease your pain.

We love you and your other two sweet angels. May God bless and comfort you all with a peace that passes all understanding.

To the grandparents. Your pain must also be beyond anything you have ever known. Especially as you watch the suffering your son, daughter and granddaughters are struggling with. I have grandchildren and can`t bare to think of how i would feel in your situation.

Our love and prayers to you also.

  4. Dear Kristen and Mike,
I love the idea of wearing pink on Monday instead of black. It's a very beautiful colour, just like Georgia. It is also my favourite colour! I know she is happy in heaven and will be safe in God's arms.
i will never forget Georgia and how strong your family is.

  6. I don't really know what to say other than expressing my admiration for the strength you've shown in the face of all of this.

I think most of us could all learn something from your example, I know I could.

  9. As I read through the comments, many are the same thoughts and feelings as my own.

I don't know you, but heard about your struggles and loss through my sister. I want you to know that your lives have touched mine and many others. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your precious, beautiful Georgia.

I am a mommy too, and my heart has been heavy and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers constantly.

The one thing that has stood out most for me, and what I would like you to hold on to is that many people create only mere ripples in an entire lifetime.....but Georgia has created waves in her short time here on earth. These waves will continue to have profound effects on the world around us. I know she is spreading her wings far and wide, just as she did here.

Thank you for bearing your heart and soul. Find strength in each other, and call on anyone of us, should you need or want.

I too will be wearing pink today.

I have just sung ANGELS AMONG US. Even though we are not there physically, we are present in spirit with you and all my family at this beautiful farewell service for Angel Georgia. Take care and God bless each and everyone of you. We love you dearly: Kristen, Mike, Calla, Maya, Betty, Jack, Kevin, and Melissa.

  11. Dear Mike, Kristen, Calla & Maya,

I'm disappointed that we weren't able to be with you today; be certain that you are in our thoughts. I love the song Angels Among Us, and think it is a perfect choice for today. I hope that everyone was singing out in Georgia's memory. I sang that song at my 6 year old cousin's funeral and it offered her family a moment of comfort, which I hope it will for you, too.

    Thinking of you,
    Julie, Kevin & Aidan

  12. We have been thinking of you all day today. Ariel, Isaac, and I all wore pink in honour of Georgia. When asked at Superstore why my son was wearing pink socks (Ariel's old ones) I explained who he was wearing them for. I hope you found some peace today.
