Georgia took her last breath sometime around 11:30 this morning. I can't be sure because I couldn't see the clock. In the end it was her and I. It was oh so hearbreaking yet oh so peaceful. She was in my arms and we had Bob Marley Lullabyes playing softly in the background. Daddy and sisters arrived within minutes to say their goodbyes as well as the amazing duo Dr. Mike and Simone.
We will keep you updated with further information.
Once again I thank you all for your prayers, love and support.

My heart is breaking for you guys. The tears are rolling down my face as I write this. You are all in our thoughts. Thank you for sharing your story. It has taught me, as well as many others I'm sure, to not take for granted the precious time we have with our little ones. I know that I have hugged and kissed and cuddled my boys more often in the last few weeks because of Georgia. She was a beautiful, special little girl who touched the lives of so many people who didn't even know her. I'm sure she felt so loved, comforted, happy and peaceful in your arms this morning.

ReplyDeleteSincerest condolences to you and your wife and all the members of your family on the tragic loss of your daughter.

Thank you for sharing the last two weeks in the life of your dear Georgia. I don't know you or your family but like so many others I have felt compelled to check each morning to see how you and your family were doing. In her short life she accomplished more than you will ever know as she educated so many people about SMA and how it effects so many families. There is another way that your story has touched lives. In the past two weeks I have tried to treasure all of the moments with my children, even sometimes when it was easier to get mad. I've made a point of making sure that there are "Georgia Moments" in each day where we laugh together. Thank you for the reminder that we don't know the number of our days and that each day together is a present and not a guarantee. I know that words don't help as you go through this most difficult time, but I do hope you know that many, many people will continue to pray for you and your family.

We can't even begin to find the words ...
ReplyDelete"WHEN GOD CALLS LITTLE CHILDREN"
When God calls little children
to dwell with him above,
We mortals sometime question
the wisdom of his love
For no heartache compares with
the death of one small child
Who does so much to make our world,
seem wonderful and mild
Perhaps God tires of calling
the aged to his fold,
So He picks a rosebud,
before he can grow old.
God knows how much we need them,
and so he takes but a few
To make the land of Heaven
more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult still
somehow we must try,
The saddest word mankind knows will always be "Goodbye."
So when a little child departs
we who are left behind
Must realize God loves children,
Angels are hard to find.
Thinking of you and your family,
Stacey, Dean, Ariel, and Isaac
Georgia is such a strong and sweet little angel. We truly believe her short time here with you and the way she has touched us all, is only a small sample of the wonders she has yet to do in heaven.
ReplyDeleteMay thoughts of her peace in heaven bring you comfort in this time of loss. We will continue to hold you and Georgia dear in our hearts and prayers.

“I’ll lend you for a little while
ReplyDeletea child of Mine”, God said,
For you to love the while they live,
And mourn for when they’re dead.
It may be one or two years or
Forty two or three.
But will you, till I call them back,
Take care of them for Me?
They will bring their charms to gladden you.
And shall their stay be brief,
You’ll have their lovely memories
To solace for your grief.
“I cannot promise they will stay,
since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there,
I want these children to learn.
I’ve looked the world wide over
In My search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life’s
Lanes, I have chosen you.
Now will you give them all your love,
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to call
To take them back again?"
I fancied that I heard them say
“Dear Lord, Thy will be done”
for all the joy Thy children shall bring.
The risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter them with tenderness,
We’ll love them while we may,
And for the happiness we’ve known
Forever grateful stay.
But shall the angels call for them
Much sooner than we’ve planned,
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand……..
Mike and Kristen,
Your love and strength throughout this painful, yet loving journey is an inspiration to everyone.
We are all going to miss our beautiful wee 'Georgia', but now that she has earned her angel wings, I'm sure that she will always be near us to whisper comfort whenever we need it most. We need only 'open our eyes and ears' to feel her when the breeze comes up, or a butterfly flutters close by, or a bird sings in the trees oooorrrrrr....
The words you type I hope have given you strength, and I trust the words ou read will give you some comfort. I am sorry for your loss, but you were given the gift of her, even if it was for only a short time, it was time, I have no doubt you lived to the fullest. God Bless.

Like all of those who have written, we are so deeply saddened to hear of Georgia's passing today, and we will continue to keep you all in our prayers.

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to learn of the loss of your little girl. Even as I have been through this terrible loss with my own son to SMA, I frequently feel inadequate when it comes to words in this situation. I want nothing more than to tell you your little girl is coming back to your arms - but I am unable to do that for you. You will remain in my thoughts.
If you are comfortable sending me your address, there is something I would like you to have. info@marshallpotter.com

TO MY MOMMY AND DADDY
ReplyDeleteDaddy, please don't look so sad,
Mama please don't cry~
"Cause I am in the arms of Jesus
and He sings me lullabies."
Please, try not to question God,
Don't think He is unkind
Don't think He sent me to you,
and then He changed his mind.
You see, I am a special child,
and I'm needed up above
I'm the special gift you gave Him,
the product of your love.
I'll always be there with you
and watch the sky at night,
Find the brightest star that's gleaming,
That's my halo's brilliant light.
You'll see me in the morning frost,
that mists your window pane.
That's me in the summer showers,
I'll be dancing in the rain.
When you feel a little breeze,
from a gentle wind that blows
That's me, I'll be there,
planting a kiss on your nose.
When you see a child playing,
and your heart feels a little tug,
That's me, I'll be there,
giving your heart a hug.
So Daddy, please don't look so sad,
Mama don't your cry.
I'm in the arms of Jesus
and He sings me lullabies.
Dear Mike and Family,
ReplyDeleteI am truly sorry for your loss of your precious daughter Georgia.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know there are no words that I can say that will make this better. I just wanted to let you know how special I thought your explanation was to your older girls about Georgia being an angel. Your family's story brought tears to my eyes every time I checked your blog.
