Welcome to Georgia's Journey

Georgia Lily Lucas was born at home on October 6th, 2008 4:15am, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was diagnosed with SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) on April 1, 2009.

On April 3rd Georgia was taken home, to be near her sisters and the rest of her family and friends. Nearly three weeks later, on April 21, 2009, she died peacefully -- in the loving arms of her mother and in the same room in which she was born.

Good Bye?

Georgia took a turn for the worst last night. We had the palliative care team here until 4:00 am and the family had come to say their good byes. This morning she is seems to be resting better which is why I have taken the two minutes out to write an update. Nobody knows what the day will hold. Please pray for Georgia.

We ask for no phone calls or visitors during this time.

Thank you.

  1. Kristen and Mike, we can't begin to imagine what you are feeling right now, and how hard last night and all of this is for you but please know we are praying for you to have the strength to keep going, to have some peaceful moments throughout this and to see the joy you have given Georgia and continue to do so. She was chosen for you, an angel, and you have shown why you were chosen to be her parents. You have had the strength to put her needs first, to speak for her when she herself couldn't and the strength to bring her home where she has shown through her comfort and laughter that it was the best decision in the world! We love you and will continue to hold you in our thoughts and prayers,
    Love Bruce and Em

  4. You are loved, cared for and in Gods hands.............each of you. How humbling this great mystery that brings us to our knees some days and lifts our hearts the next. Your kind hearts will be held by many many people you know and you don't know in the great web of humanity that encircles those in pain and anguish. May each of you smile openly once again.
    Love and blessings
