I recently saw the post made about your fundraiser & how well you guys did. Congratulations! That has to make you feel so good to go above & beyond the $5000 goal.

I have to tell you, when I saw the picture of Georgia, I was amazed at the resemblance she has with my son Zachary, who is also a Type 1 baby. I have heard through people in the field that SMA kids look similar, but this was uncanny. Needless to say I thought she was beautiful! I then went to your blog to see more pics, & was very saddened to hear she had passed. I've read some of your blog postings & can relate to so much of what you post. I really admire you for sharing yourself with so many, & putting it out there for strangers like myself.

I also admire you for the way you handled Georgia's life. I have been very leery of befriending too many SMA families after hearing how passionate & ridiculing they can be of how some handle things. My husband & I have talked long & hard about the end of life choices for our son, & hopefully we won't have to deal with this anytime soon, but we do not plan to go the ventilator route & feel that we want the best quality of life we can give him for as long as possible. I myself am a nurse, & have seen people living dependent on machines for everything, & cannot imagine living like that myself or asking my son to do so either.

Zachary was diagnosed at 2 mo. of age, & is now 6 mo. old & we are very pleased with how he is doing. Winter scares the crap out of me, but luckily we're in Southern California, so hopefully we can keep him healthy & strong. Please feel free to check out our family website www.thespanfamily.com Maybe you'll see the resemblance I'm talking about in the latest pictures of Zachary. Also, please feel free to email me at skydivrgirl@hotmail.com.

Best wishes to you & your family as you continue to grieve & heal from this horrible loss.

Sincerely,
Kellie

PS... I LOVED the comment your girls made about the fish dying, that was great!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4186047827843887200.post-15182951555024920292009-11-02T19:12:14.310-06:002009-11-02T19:12:14.310-06:00Hi Kristen,

I loved their pumpkins, where did you get the kits to decorate with? I wanted to have the kids just paint them or something but it didn't happen...one carved pumpkin and some spider cupcakes for us! Glad to hear the girls had fun and I loved reading about how excited Calla was, how sweet! Take care and Happy Halloween. Love EmEmmanoreply@blogger.com
